21st Century Transportation

Overview

Our current transportation system has many of us stuck endlessly waiting in traffic, all the while spewing air pollution and consuming billions of barrels of overseas oil.

But our government has spent nine times more on highway projects than on public transportation. As transit ridership in Arizona is dramatically increasing and gas prices fluctuate wildly, the time is right to change the imbalance in our transportation system.

Light rail, clean bus systems, and other public transit should play a greater part in Arizona's transportation future. Efficient public transportation systems allow Arizonans to decide how to travel, while reducing congestion, cutting down on air pollution, and reducing our dependence on oil.

We're working for a 21st century transit system in Arizona by encouraging public support for new projects and improved service and asking our state to invest in solving long-term transportation problems by funding public transportation.

What's New

It's crucial to make sure that new transportation infrastructure  advances Arizona toward having a 21st century transportation system. Public leaders from around the state are lending their voice for 21st century transportation by signing a concise set of basic reform principles. It calls for new transportation policy that: expands efficient transportation choices for Arizonans, fixes our crumbling roads and bridges, and spends taxpayers' money more wisely.
