Background
Ms. Brown is responsible for coordinating research,
policy development, coalition and media outreach, and advocacy for
Arizona PIRG. Ms. Brown has co-authored several reports, including
"Renewing Arizona’s Economy: The Clean Energy Path to Jobs and the
Economy," "Green Communities Handbook: How Local Governments in
Illinois Can Ensure Cheaper and Cleaner Energy Use," and "Ethics in
Illinois Government," and has testified before elected officials on
energy and good government issues. She is an active participant in the
Renewable Energy Advocates Coalition, which is currently working to
increase the state’s renewable energy standard.
She
has appeared on Phoenix television and radio and has appeared in
newspapers across the state including the Arizona Republic and The
Capitol Times. Ms. Brown began working with the state PIRGs in New
Jersey in 1985, where she served as a Campus Organizer and Citizen
Outreach Director. In 1989, she went on to serve as Executive Director
of Illinois PIRG and to establish the Illinois PIRG Education Fund.
While in Illinois, she served on the Board of Directors of the League
of Women Voters of Chicago Governance Board, the Illinois Campaign
Reform Coalition Steering Committee, the Monsignor John Egan Campaign
for Payday Loan Reform Executive Committee, and Earth Share Illinois.
Ms.
Brown is also the Executive Director of the Arizona PIRG Education
Fund, the 501(c)(3) sister organization of Arizona PIRG.
